AeroGarden VeggiePro - New AeroGarden Model Just Annouced!

Okay, I have to admit I'm excited. Today, I got an email from AeroGrow saying that they're on the verge of introducing a new AeroGarden that grows full-sized vegetables, including tomatoes! They're calling it the AeroGarden VeggiePro.

In the e-mail they're claiming that they have a "special advance shipment" that's being offered exclusively to special customers first before it's released to the general public. Okay, it's most likely a marketing stunt, but what can I say...I'm a sucker for those sorts of things. I went ahead and got it :)

Now, those of you who are Aerogarden fans know that such a beast kind of already exists. It's called the AeroGarden 6 Elite +. For all intents and purposes, this is exactly the same thing, except it doesn't have a brushed steel face. That, of course, is for aesthetics only and doesn't affect how the unit functions.

In addition, Aerogrow has introduced these advantages:
  • It's $20 cheaper
  • It now comes with a Trellis system (the Aerogarden 6 Elite + didn't used to have this)
  • It comes with a full-size heirloom tomato kit (the Aerogarden 6 Elite + comes with cherry tomatoes)
  • It extends a full 24 inches
  • It has a 24-hour light cycle
  • It grow things 25% faster than the Aerogarden Elite
  • You can buy an optional "Grow Anything" Kit to grow anything you like.
Those of you have read this blog know that I'm a former proud tomato farmer who's been relegated to apartment living for the last 10 years. Who knows, perhaps this will get me back in the game once and for all. Of course, I'll post a detailed play-by-play account of my experiences as soon as it comes!
